aussies, i have a question
why isn’t silverchair adored in your country?
i’ve always wanted to know.
they are by the vast majority of aussies.
the ones with actual taste in music despise them.
guess which one i am!
Despise is a strong word.
And Silverchair is probably the best mainstream pop group Australia has at the moment.
Silverchair are definitely not adored by the vast majority of Aussies. and those that DO like them “only liked their old stuff. they like totally sold out, man.” but back when their old stuff was new they weren’t hugely adored then either.
i think that there are lots of reasons for this but the main one is that they are a successful band and not only is Australia, as a rule, disapproving of any kind of success it produces (we are convicts and h8 ourselvz), but the target audience for Silverchair is way too cool to want to listen to a successful band. i think if i and my peepz lived in america and this awesome band from australia were being all silver-chaired at us, we’d be all over them.
